Tasting Notes

The 2023 Viognier is true to the vintage with vibrant acidity and a delicate straw color with flecks of shimmering lemon yellow. On the nose, fragrant notes of honeysuckle, elderflower, and hints of wet stone minerality sit alongside notes of green apple, fresh cut hay, candied white peach and lime zest. Like a wildflower bouquet from a pastoral field, this Viognier is bright, fresh, and lively. The mouthfeel is clean and linear with a backbone of crisp mouthwatering acidity. Showcasing a light to medium body, the palate is delicate and soft with notes of white peach, Granny Smith apple and tangy lime supported by subtle Marcona almond notes, and a white pepper spiced finish that is long and pleasing. Lip-smacking and perfectly quaffable on its own as an aperitif or an ideal accompaniment to lighter fare and charcuterie, you’re invited to return over and over, enjoying sip after sip.

Vintage

The 2023 growing season in Napa Valley was characterized by consistent, mild weather and one of the longest growing seasons in recent memory. This vintage saw above-average crop yields and extended hang time, resulting in an exceptional, high-quality year. Winter and spring rains provided full reservoirs and healthy soils, while the mild summer weather supported healthy canopy growth and slow, even ripening. The result was a vintage with purity, elegance, and optimal ripeness.

Vineyard

Our Viognier is sourced from select vineyards in the Carneros and Oak Knoll AVAs. Located in the southern part of Napa Valley, these cooler vineyards are optimal for growing Viognier, providing sufficient sun exposure for ripening and cool marine fog for maintaining natural acidity. The Viognier planted at these Carneros and Oak Knoll vineyards showcase flavor complexity and refined aromatic expression, ideal for our bottling.
